I took a recent road trip courtesy of Ford out east to Montauk and stopped off in The Hamptons with my good friend, the incredibly talented Brendon Babenzien. Fashion designer of some of mine and your favorite clothing lines, Noah, Aprix, and Supreme, Brendon is one humble guy. I had to persuade him to get in front of the camera and venture into some of the incredible shops The Hamptons have to offer.
Like most people I respect in fashion, Brendon is much more interested in the culture, craftsmanship, and history of clothing than the fashion of clothing.
Please don't look at the video as a set of rules, handbook, or a style playbook for that matter... I hope you find some fun daily inspiration in it... By nature Mr. Babenzien is much more a hooligan than a gentleman but his style cannot be denied and his influence permeates these parts on the daily...

He is the opposite of you. His stoicism and style outdoes yours by miles.

nice persols...are they 54 or 52mm lenses?
Posted by: austin v. | Friday, August 07, 2009 at 03:24 PM
Agreed Brendon's style outdoes mine, but by yards not miles. However, we are not opposites.
The Persols are 54mm lenses.

so you tried on the 52s and the temple arms were touching your temples huh? (im thinking of getting the 54 online)
Posted by: austin v. | Saturday, August 08, 2009 at 03:24 AM
Jake, do you happen to know what jeans Brendon is wearing?
Posted by: Michael E. | Saturday, August 08, 2009 at 12:02 PM
The Persols were a gift many years back. The 54s are quite wide but I like 'em like that.
Brendon's jeans are Supreme 14 oz. raw selvedge denim worn for over a year and a half.

Brendon's been years ahead of the game. Cool cat

You both have cool style and I appreciate this look into the Hamptons.

Beautiful jeans. I can not get over how beautiful faded they are. Would you happen to know what shirt he was wearing Mr. Davis?
Posted by: kiko | Saturday, August 08, 2009 at 08:54 PM
Awesome Persols. I've been trying to find the folding ones. You know where? Please? LOL

interested more in his shoes, are they those mark mcnairy numbers or is there some bass in alligator more readily available/perhaps affordable?
Posted by: Theo Landon | Monday, August 10, 2009 at 12:31 AM
Back to me - whats the soundtrack to your photo montage, again? Thanks.
Posted by: Stefan | Monday, August 10, 2009 at 12:47 AM
Jordan of Silver Lining Opticians can probably help you with the Persols.
Those are the amazing SS10 Mark McNairy Bass Weejuns Brendon is wearing.
The soundtrack is "Airegin" from the legend John Coltrane.

Jake, next time your out let me know and I'll have you over to our summer house in Shelter Island for some burgers and beers poolside. I peeped the Dash/45rpm oxford, I know it well.

Dont you kids in NY get Hot? What happened to shorts & t's in the summer? I dont think you could be comfortable in a long sleeve (even though theyre rolled up)and selvedge denim when it's 100 degrees out here in Cali. Nice vid tho! Thanks for posting

Yeeeah. Thats the one. I thought it was Coltrane -I wasn't sure but its pretty goddamned unmistakable. Absolutely wonderful stuff. Speaking of amazing; ff you have a second you should try to find this Mingus documentary that a company called Shenachie put out in 1998..but i digress.

Kiko, sorry just saw your inquiry now about Brendon's shirt. It got mixed up in all the comments. Wayne Pate is on point. That beautiful button above the gusset is a R by 45rpm staple.

love the selvage jeans with the light blue shirt. definitely great blend. one criticism though... the jeans look a little loose! the fitted look is in. understanding that the loose fit is more comfortable, i think the look fitted jeans gives is worth the downgrade in comfort. thoughts?

"Can't wear skinny jeans cuz my knots don't fit."
Posted by: Jake Davis | Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 11:12 AM
haha. that is a popular complaint amongst men about slimmer jeans, but there are fits (stay away from low-rise and super-low rise if you have this concern) that allow you to have the fitted look without choking your friends.
