My friend Shonagh is an incredible fashion curator and also has amazing style of her own. I've been wanting to shoot her for a while now. I'm happy we were both in the same city to make it happen. Knowing Brendon Babenzien (Noah, Aprix, Supreme, K-Swiss) it would make perfect sense that when curating a special Noah installation for Unis, clothing would have very little to do with the actual presentation. Sure you'll find a scatter of some of his favorite vintage t-shirts, nautical themed bandanas, anchor laden robes, and Nantucket rope bracelets. But the true finds are a discovery into his very unique lifestyle. An avid runner, surfer, skater, and seaman the influences are very clear and evident in the finely selected goods from his global travels. And yes, there will be a few new exclusive pieces from the mythical brand.

A perpetual downplayer, Brendon himself would tell you to stop by the store if you're around. It will be fun... So in his honor I won't overhype what will be a very chill event. Here is the opening invite for Thursday, May 26 6-9pm. The entire Summer collection of Unis has arrived in store just in time for the warm weather as well. The installation is up through out the season with new goods coming in weekly.

Jake Davis Test Shots: Glenn O'Brien

 

I've wanted to shoot Glenn O'Brien for a while. The first time I met him he interviewed the late Malcolm McLaren for Supreme. He's one of the most influential and visionary New Yorkers... A true living legend. The simplest way I can describe him is, he was doing internet shit before the internet. As in, if he thought something was fresh, he found a way to expose it and didn't need anybody to give him the okay. 

I have the utmost respect and admiration for him. To use the overused term "swag," would be an understatement... And at the end of the day clothing has very little to do with style. Glenn, thank you for inviting us into your home. Sorry to creep but I had to take a photo of your Basquiat tagged jacket cause that shit's crazy. Music Video Premiere: Vanessa Carlton "Carousel"

 

Music videos are born in a lot of different ways. This one for Vanessa Carlton was about as organic as they come. My manager Chris Black ran into an old friend of his, Tracey Moulton, who's Vanessa's stylist on a flight. They both thought we should connect. Vanessa happens to live down the street from me, so we met up and she played me the new album. I instantly thought we have to go to my hometown of Woodstock and shoot a progression of my Test Shots series, which she loves. Each frame of the video would feel like a vintage fashion editorial photograph. Really I just wanted to get out of the city for the weekend with my friends and make something beautiful.

Navajo blankets, Ralph Lauren Collection gowns, chambray (with no pants), nature, bonfires... Just a few of my favorite things. We stayed at a cabin on the top of a secluded mountain and brought our two teams together. I had a ton of fun making the video. I hope you guys like it.
