Birkenstock Davos

 
Mr. Resting General put me onto Birkenstock Davos a while back. Through his travels to Japan he discovered them and had them exclusively available at Rest Store. They're the perfect house slipper that I wear around the studio as well.

For those that have been following this site for a while you know I have an affinity for Birkenstocks, whether it's my Woodstock upbringing or love of comfort. One of the more polarizing brands, these are a terrific option for a splash of daring color to keep things interesting. Blaze orange is my personal favorite.

Woke up to a sketch from Wayne Pate this morning in my inbox. No press release, no explanation, no request... I love people artists that operate like that... If you're unfamilair with his work you should definitely check him out. He also has some great prints and tote bags available for purchase.

I hope to collaborate with him soon. His illustrations and sketches are so cool and distinct. I admire those that can capture character in a few simple strokes. Mr. Pate, thank you...

Part of the fun of being a filmmaker is doing the unexpected. Our friends at Wool And The Gang just launched their kids line. So shooting Lulu's Test Shot was the perfect opportunity to finally film a child for the series. Everything looks so much cooler in mini.

I've also been searching for the perfect washed denim jacket for a while now and it looks like Lulu found it. I should've asked her where she got hers. Oh well... For you daily inspiration whether you need some style stimulus or just a small smile, Ms. Lulu...

Unis "Jake" Pocket Tee

In a sea of suits Newman wears just a t-shirt. He stood out for being classicaly unique which is hard to find these days. For those looking to separate themselves from the pack in the most subtle of ways look no further than Unis.

The very talented designer Eunice Lee has created the perfect short sleeve pocket tee this season made of incredible texturized jersey cotton. It's named after some shallow superficial director guy, but don't let that lead you astray. Gentlemen, this is the one your girlfriend is gonna steal.

The fit is really great and it's made in the USA. I prefer the classic optic white but there is also an amazing leaf and indigo color. All three colors are availble in store and online...

It's no secret who we love in these parts and our family in Toronto is no exception. This isn't nepotism, it's just good music. Mr. Black sent this well curated OVOXO mixtape of remixes and rarities my way and I haven't stopped listening.

That Scent: R By 45rpm

There is great convenience in shopping online. And for those not fortunate to live in a major city there is a great connection the internet brings you to your favorite brand. But nothing replaces certain physical retail expereinces like the scent of a store. Unis has her own Le Labo candle. Supreme has Nag Champa incense. But my absolute favorite is R by 45rpm.

If you've ever walked by or wandered through an R by 45rpm store, I'm sure you've wondered, "what's that smell?" The homely and distinct scent is a definite takeaway and stays with you for days. Besides the cedar floors and kusu walls there's a beautiful mix of Santa Maria Novella potpourri and Shun-you incense by Shoyeido from Kyoto, Japan. Talking about scents on the internet is kind of silly but so is watching cooking shows on TV when you can't taste the food. Apparently I do both really well, but I also try my best to get off my ass the internet and experience the real thing.

This was a great present from my Executive Producer Kerri Kleiner. She always finds the most amazing books. After obsessing over it for weeks I had to share it with you guys. An incredible gift and addition to the collection...
