Style is about the subtle details. To the naked eye a sneaker is just a sneaker and a coat is just a coat. But both of us know there's so much more to it than that. I've always been intrigued by why people make the decisions they do. Even if it's something as seemingly inconsequential as picking out a pair of running sneakers or hooded sweatshirt.

All the decisions we make eventually make up our character. And are subsequently a reflection or projection of our taste, sensibility, personality, etc. I've heard you are what you eat. But are you what you wear? Well, the dichotomy is... Just like clothing, there's so much more to people...

They say you can't really be friends with women. They say you can't really be friends with clients. But I've never been too concerned with what they say and either has one of my best friends, Eunice Lee. We call her the Queen of Menswear but she's so much more.

Her impeccable style translates to her line of incredible classics, Unis. She always finds a way of blending fashion chic with utlitarian function in such a beautiful way for herself. A simple vintage hooded sweatshirt under that oversized Isabel Marant coat to keep warm in the snow. I've been asking Eunice to shoot her Test Shot for years. Hey mom, remember when I was little, every Sunday morning dad would come back to the house with The New York Times and danish? You would sip tea and skip to the Styles section. Remember when you told me, "Let your audience find you. Keep doing what you love. They'll come..." Remember that? I took those words to heart. 

The Times did a little write up on me and some of my friends. It's not a movie but it's in the Styles section that you love to skip to. Hopefully it will put a little smile on your face... Baby steps, right?... And yes, I'll get a copy for Mama...

For 2012 we're taking on some new clients. Premium denim and menswear aficionado, Donwan Harrell's PRPS is one of them. Upon meeting at the PRPS showroom and more specifically Donwan's office you get an incredible feeling of nostalgia for yesteryear Americana. I was taught a successful film submerses you into a world. Well, I have to say Donwan has a blockbuster of an office.

Part museum, part amusement park, part trap house... You don't know where to look or even how to start. You could spend a couple days sifting through his entire collection of Free & Easy. I think we've always been fascinated about people's work spaces and what it says about them. Donwan isn't just a designer, he lives and breathes this. And for that we have the utmost respect.
