Somebody got the memo at Patagonia. We like a little bit of excitement with our classics. Eye catchers, dialogue pieces, show stoppers... It's not for everyone but it brings energy to the mundane. Merchandising, designing, and directing is all very similar. You need to hook people in and sometimes a great way to do that is with a subtle splash of color or interesting textile.
This season Patagonia took three staples (the Classic Retro-X Cardigan, Synchilla® Snap-T® Pullover, and Powder Town Beanie) and turnt them up. It's not for everyone but I have to say it's refreshing to see. I might love it more on the rack or a video than on myself but it's an essential part of the collection nonetheless.
