I've been a long time fan of
Complex Magazine. When
Anoma asked me to be a part of the Style and Design issue I was really excited. We met at
The Ace Hotel Lobby Bar to discuss over iced coffee (I only fuck with cold-brewed and they have some serious cold-brewed over there.) We both thought the traditional interview profile was kind of boring. "Jake, you're always making beautiful videos in cool places. How about you tell us what you travel with." I thought it was a really interesting concept. Sometimes your belongings say more about you than you think. And it seemed like a natural extension of what you see here everyday.
An interview, an illustration, a couple photos shoots, and a few e-mail exchanges later the issue is out. I think it looks really great and hopefully not too boring for you guys. We have a few other things in the works but for now you can take a look at some of my belongings that are very special to me. Maybe they'll inspire you on your travels.
